Mukuru is looking for an experienced Software Engineering Team Lead to join their dynamic Financial Services (Wallets) engineering team. This role involves collaboration with a passionate team to revolutionize the industry by delivering high-quality software products. The successful candidate will lead a team of 2-5 software engineers, provide technical guidance, drive impactful projects, and shape the future of Mukuru’s products and services. As a technical expert and problem solver, you will work on innovative projects, leveraging the latest tools and technologies to create a tangible impact on a global scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of 2-5 software engineers, fostering continuous learning and professional growth
• Take full ownership of products or projects, ensuring quality, deadlines, and user requirements are met
• Guide the team using expertise in PHP, Symfony (or similar frameworks), microservices, domain-driven design, hexagonal architecture, and CI/CD practices
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance development workflows
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Product Owners, Business Analysts, and DevOps, in an Agile and Scrum environment
• Build strong relationships within the team and align multiple teams to achieve project goals
• Conduct regular performance reviews, set goals, and provide constructive feedback to team members

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a senior software engineer or team lead with deep knowledge of software development processes
• Strong proficiency in PHP and Symfony (or similar frameworks)
• Experience with microservices, domain-driven design, and hexagonal architecture
• Familiarity with Git, Gitlab, and GitHub for version control
• Knowledge of Agile and Scrum methodologies, with experience leading Agile teams
• Excellent leadership, communication, and mentoring skills
• Proactive problem-solving abilities and a strong sense of ownership
• Ability to collaborate effectively with DevOps teams for seamless deployment and infrastructure support
• Experience working with Test Analysts, Product Owners, and Business Analysts to meet project goals
• Skilled at aligning multiple teams and negotiating priorities
• A passion for process efficiency and development workflow improvements
